Northeastern Virginia SSDI Appeals Lawyer Bruce K. Billman

How can my physician help with my SSDI claim?

Richmond VA SSDI Appeal Attorney Fredericksburg Social Security Appeal Lawyer Virginia

Your physician is an essential part of making sure that you get appropriate SSDI benefits. Without you physician's help, it is virtually impossible to get the benefits.

It is EXTREMELY important that your doctor keep VERY DETAILED notes and records of any abnormal physical examination findings.

Representation in SSDI Appeals

Professional, Experienced and Right in Town

The vast majority of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claimants are denied benefits at the initial application stage. At the Law Offices of Bruce K. Billman, we will give you a realistic assessment of your eligibility for SSDI benefits and what steps you are likely to need to take to obtain them.

We do not want our clients to have unrealistic expectations, but we do want them to know that through a successful appeal, benefits can be obtained. Attorney Bruce Billman has the experience and dedication to appeal denied SSDI benefits before the administrative law judge, before the SSA appeals council, and in federal court.

Believe it or not, there really is good news if you have to appeal your SSDI benefits claim. At the administrative law judge (ALJ) stage, your case can finally be presented to a real judge—there is finally an opportunity to show you as a person with dignity.

Bruce works hard to make the ALJ see our clients as individuals and to understand their very real problems. We provide the judges with pictures of our clients and present evidence about how their disabilities or illnesses affect the quality of their lives. We will work to demonstrate the level of your disability in a more realistic, qualitative manner. The complete picture we will build will show your disability and situation much more clearly than did the Social Security Administration's (SSA) impersonal points system, which is used primarily at the initial claim and reconsideration stages.

The Steps in the SSDI Appeals Process

Steps 3 and 4 in the process of obtaining SSDI benefits happen before the Social Security Administration (SSA):

  • Step 3: A hearing is requested before an administrative law judge (ALJ) at the SSA. Bruce will personally work with you to prepare you and your testimony for the hearing. He will also work with your doctors to gather the proper medical evidence to support your claim.
  • Step 4: If you are denied by the ALJ, Bruce can also represent you before the Appeals Council.

Hopefully, your case will never get to steps 5 and 6, which involve appeals to the federal district court and the U.S. Court of Appeals. If necessary, however, Bruce handles appeals before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
